North Charleston Farmers Market

The 2012 North Charleston Farmers Market opens April 19 and takes place every Thursday through October 25 in the Olde Village of North Charleston, 1055 East Montague Avenue. The market offers an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, as well as art & craft booths, food vendors, and entertainment. The Cultural Arts Department organizes the presentation of live music every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday and visual art demonstrations by local artists every 2nd and 4th Thursday. The market is open from 3:00-7:00pm. Music/Art Demonstrations take place from 4:00-6:00pm. Check Performances and Workshops/Classes/Camps pages for musical entertainment and art demo schedule.

 

City of North Charleston July 4th Festival

Each year, the City hosts a fantastic July 4th celebration at North Charleston Riverfront Park. The Mayor kicks off the festivities with opening remarks and refreshments at 3:00pm. Concerts and fun children's activities take place throughout the late afternoon.  A grand fireworks display over the water concludes the evening with a BANG! Admission and parking are free; alcohol is not permitted.

Ghost Walk 

Join us for a Ghost Walk featuring spooky tales and creepy legends appropriate for all ages. Featuring the Backporch Storytellers, this event is sure to set the mood for Halloween! The event consists of up to eight stations and will last approximately an hour and a half. Proceeds go towards the City of North Charleston’s Christmas Charity for needy families. Tickets available for purchase night of the event.
Tickets: $4 adult, $1 child (12 and under), $6 group discount (1 adult and 3 children).

Tribute to Our Veterans

The City of North Charleston honors all veterans with a special program featuring guest speakers and entertainment. Veterans interested in attending should contact the North Charleston Recreation Department at 843-745-1028 or Cindy Dambaugh at cdambaugh@northcharleston.org. The Cultural Arts Department hosts a public pre-program Story Swap session from 9:30-10:30am. Veterans interested in signing up to share their stories are asked to contact Marty Besancon at 843-740-5854 or mbesancon@northcharleston.org.

City of North Charleston Christmas Festival & Parade

Held on the first Saturday in December, this annual City event is a holiday gift to the community.  Families, friends, and neighbors share the joys of the season through delightful entertainment, children’s activities, hay rides, arts & craft booths, festive food and decorations, thousands of twinkling lights, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and an evening parade.  See the Felix Davis Community Center and the areas surrounding Park Circle transformed with lighted snowflakes, Christmas trees, and magical holiday scenes.  Children’s activities begin at 4:00pm, entertainment begins at 4:30pm, Christmas Parade at 6:00pm.  Admission and parking are free; ample space is available on the parking islands around Park Circle.
